Overgrown is an isometric puzzle game I worked on with a team of interns during my internship at Mythiary Studios. The main character has found an ancient temple and accidentally ends up turned into a flower; the player has to navigate out of the temple using only a vine to drag themself forward, avoiding enemies in their path. If they make it out of the temple, the main character will become human again.

Despite the main character not making an official appearance as human in the game, I still worked on some possible designs for them. Afterwards, I thumbnailed some plant designs and worked on some more detailed designs, after which we chose a final design to use as the flower version of the main character.
I created the character sprites as featured in the demo, and animated them by hand. The animations are short and simple, but they did not need to be complicated and their simple nature adds to the relaxed vibes of the game.
Lastly, I worked on the start and end screens of the game, as well as the UI elements necessary for buttons. The in-game view is mockup art created by one of the other artists, which I used as placeholder to be able to showcase the UI elements I created.
This was a very fun project to work on, although a little stressful on account of the time limit we worked with. I am very happy with the art I managed to create for the game.
